Artifact: ITEC 7445 Assistive Technology Implementation Plan
The artifact I am using to facilitate the use of adaptive and assistive technologies to support individual student learning needs is the assistive technology implementation plan I created in ITEC 7445. The purpose of this artifact is to facilitate a plan for the intentional use of assistive and adaptive technologies and strategies to support individual student achievement.
The artifact supports the facilitation and the use of adaptive and assistive technologies through the intentional and strategic design of individual learning technologies and assistance in all content areas for one student in the classroom. The assistive technology plan encourages student success by determining the various equipment that will support the student such as headphones, a text to speech app for repeated direction and read aloud feature. The student will also have access to various and structured writing organizers, sticky notes and highlighters to encourage comprehension and writing structure, and a speaking phone to increase engagement in rereading and editing of writing pieces. An implementation team development encourages a collaborative facilitation of these adaptive and assistive technologies and strategies to support this student in the classroom. Training, school and home implementation strategies includes details for those involved in this assistive and adaptive technology plan. The individualized education plan and evaluation goals establishments mean all members are on the same team to support the individual learning goals for this student.
This assignment provides growth in the area of differentiated and adaptive learning for all students. Teachers should be able to determine how and what tools help students learn. This requires a critical eye and a consistent reflective nature. An implementation plan that encourages collaboration of a team of teachers means the learner will feel supported at school and at home.
The work that went into creating this artifact improves faculty development by engaging in open communication and dialogue to support various learners in the classroom. The team must work together to ensure success for all learners. Collaboration is successful when the documentation and plan is clear for all stakeholders.
