Artifact: Weebly Blog Posts
The artifact I am using to regularly evaluate and reflect on professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences is my Weebly blog posts on my digital portfolio. The purpose of the blog posts is to reflect on the courses, best practices, technology tools and digital media that supports pedagogical practices and student learning.
This artifact supports my ability to regularly evaluate and reflect on my professional practices and dispositions. For example, the blog post for ITEC 7430 “Internet Tools in the Classroom” Course Reflection focuses on the use of blogging. This is my first experience with blogging in the classroom. In the post, I highlight the important role blogging has in our world. We learn many things from blogs. When students have the opportunity to openly reflect and write about their experiences in the classroom, teacher and other students learn more about that student. This creates a transparent learning environment where students get to know one another, build writing stamina and reflective practice. In this blog post, I demonstrate the ability to reflect on blogging benefits in the classroom, evaluate the importance of blogging and build my professional practice to support student learning. Through blogging, individuals can express their unique dispositions about their life, goals, and professional practice.
After completing each blog post, I am able to summarize the key takeaways I have from a course. Each reflection is unique and supports new learning opportunities though technology-enhanced practices and reflective dispositions. The ability to go back and review the information that I learn over the course of this program is powerful. A resource in and of itself that I refer back to periodically.
This artifact supports faculty development and school improvement because it is documentation of my reflective practices as an educator. This resource is accessible online, promotes self discovers and learning and growing in my professional field. School improvement starts with teachers in their classroom. Encouraging students and reflecting on your pedagogical practice improves school learning for children and faculty ideas spread like wildfire.
